About Us
The Māngere East Community Centre was established in 1997 to serve the people living in our local community. We have provided quality after school and holiday programmes to support working families and caregivers ever since. The centre runs a range of community-led activities, parenting programmes and adult education classes, in partnership with others, that aim to enrich peoples lives and respond to the changing needs in our community. We advocate for social inclusion and community wellbeing, supporting such campaigns as stopping government plans for an East-West motorway through Māngere, saving our Post Office and protecting Ihumatao. Our long term goal is to achieve a new purpose-built community centre for Māngere East, with a gymnasium, classrooms and cafe. The Centre is open 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday. Please feel free to drop-in and find out how to get involved. Phone 09 275 6161 for more information or to enroll in any of our community classes and programmes.
